CSV Import

Stash Hub’s CSV import feature allows you to seamlessly add your data from other platforms including (but not exclusively) Trello, Airtable, Google Sheets, and Microsoft Excel. As long as it is in a CSV format, it will work. Currently CSV Import only supports Fabrics and Patterns.

This guide will walk you through how to export your data from each platform and then import it into Stash Hub.

Important Notes Before You Start

You do not need to try and match your columns with Stash Hub’s fields. It uses Magic Input to extract the relevant data for you. However, because it uses AI, the results may not be perfect so please double check the results.

CSV Import is a Stash Hub Plus feature.

For Trello Users: If your Trello board contains images or attachments, the board must be set to public for images to work properly in Stash Hub. Private boards will have broken image links after import.

For Airtable Users: Image attachment URLs expire after approximately 2 hours for security reasons. If you’re importing data with images, complete the import process immediately after exporting from Airtable to ensure images remain accessible.

Exporting from Trello

Prerequisites

  • You need a Trello Premium account to export boards as CSV (You may be able to use Trello’s free trial)
  • For images to work: Set your board to public before exporting (you can always set it back to private after the import)

Export Steps

  1. Open your Trello board

  1. Click the “Show menu” button (three dots or menu icon) on the right side of your board

  1. Select “Print, export and share” from the menu

  1. Click “Export as CSV”

  1. Save the file

Alternative Methods

If you don’t have Trello Premium, you can use third-party Power-Ups like:

  • Board Export by Blue Cat
  • Excelefy
  • Smart Export

Exporting from Airtable

Quick Export Steps

  1. Open your Airtable base

  1. Navigate to the view you want to export

  1. Click the dropdown arrow next to the view name

  1. Select “Download CSV”

  1. Save the file to your computer

Important Considerations

  • Only one view exports at a time – you cannot export entire bases
  • Attachment URLs expire after 2 hours – import immediately after export
  • Hidden fields won’t be included – ensure all desired fields are visible in your view
  • Complex data types (rich text, linked records) may be simplified in CSV format

Multiple Tables

If you need to export multiple tables from the same base, repeat the process for each table/view you want to include.

Exporting from Google Sheets

Standard Export Method

  1. Open your Google Sheets document

  1. Click on the sheet tab you want to export (CSV exports only include one sheet at a time)

  1. Go to File → Download

  1. Select “Comma-separated values (.csv, current sheet)”

  1. Choose a save location and click Save

Multiple Sheets

If your spreadsheet has multiple sheets, you’ll need to export each sheet separately by:

  • Clicking on each sheet tab
  • Repeating the export process for each sheet

Exporting from Microsoft Excel

Desktop Excel (Windows/Mac)

  1. Open your Excel workbook

  1. Click File → Save As

  1. Choose your save location

  1. In the “Save as type” dropdown, select “CSV (Comma delimited) (*.csv)”

  1. Enter a filename and click Save

  1. Click “OK” when Excel warns that only the current sheet will be saved

  1. Click “Yes” to confirm you want to save in CSV format

Excel Online (Web Version)

  1. Open your Excel file in Excel for the web

  1. Go to File → Export

  1. Select “Download this sheet as CSV (.csv)”

  1. The file will download to your default download location

Multiple Worksheets

Excel can only export one worksheet at a time to CSV. For multiple worksheets:

  • Save each worksheet separately
  • Switch to each worksheet tab before repeating the export process

Importing your CSV into Stash Hub1. In the Stash Hub app, navigate to Settings > CSV Import/Export

  1. Click to upload a CSV and select your file

  1. Select the record type (Fabric or Pattern)

  1. Click “Import”

If successful, the CSV will be processed in the background and you will receive an email when it is done. If you aren’t happy with the results you can always use Bulk Edit to modify them or delete them all and try again. Records imported with CSV will all have a Tag of “CSV Import” meaning you can filter for just those records.
