How To Use and Save Filters

Filters are a powerful way to narrow down your Stash Hub records so you can focus on what matters right now. Whether you’re planning a specific sewing project or just trying to feel less overwhelmed by your stash, filters help you quickly find exactly what you’re looking for.

What Are Filters?

Filters allow you to temporarily limit what records you see based on selected criteria (such as fabric type, length, or colour). You can apply one filter or combine several together to create very specific views of your stash.

Filters are available for:

Fabrics
Patterns
Notions (select a Notion Type first)
Projects
Inspiration
Marketplace

How to Open Filters

Tap the Filter icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
The filter panel will open, showing all available filtering options for that record type.

Selecting Filters

Tap on a filtering option to expand it.
Select the values you want to filter by.

There are two main types of filters:

Sliding scale filters (for example, length), which you adjust by dragging the slider.
List-based filters, which have discrete values you can select from.

Stash Hub Plus Subscription

Overview

Stash Hub is free to download and use with almost all features being available. However, as you add more of your stash you will need to get a Stash Hub Plus subscription. This goes towards the cost of running the app and the continued development. Below is an outline of the differences:

Getting Stash Hub Plus

Stash Hub Plus can be purchased on either the iOS or Android versions of the app or the web version. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

Open the Stash Hub app or visit https://web.stashhubapp.com and click on the Menu icon in the top left. Go to Settings.
At the top there should be a Stash Hub Plus button which you can click on. Alternatively, click the following link: https://web.stashhubapp.com/profile/subscription
On this subscription page you should now see the options to subscribe Monthly or Yearly. Select your preferred option then click to subscribe. This will then open a page with a summary of the subscription.

Magic Input

Magic Input is the fastest way to input information into Stash Hub

Instead of filling out each field individually, you can either copy and paste a shop URL or write/paste all the fabric information into one text box and let the magic do the rest. Magic Input is available to help you create records for Fabrics and Patterns and it works in the same way for both record types.

We developed this feature to speed up the process of adding your stash to the app.

Magic Input from URL

This version of Magic Input means you can take the URL/weblink of a fabric from an online shop and it will generate a new fabric record from that URL (including the image). A URL is a web address to a listing of a particular fabric or pattern being sold online. Magic Input from URL is ideal for adding new purchases when you're shopping online.

When adding fabrics via Magic Input you can enter an optional “Purchased Length” at the time of submission. There will be a loading time of around 5-10 seconds whilst magic input performs the process of turning a URL into a record. Before your record is created, you'll have the opportunity to select which images you would like to include. Adding notions

Notions (or haberdashery) are some of the hardest things to keep track of but fortunately you can stay on top of them in Stash Hub. You can get to your Notions by clicking “Menu” at the top left then selecting “Notions”.

Notion Types

In the app, Notions are first categorised by “Notion Type” and a number of them are already created for you (Bias Binding, Elastic, Zips, Labels, Buttons & Thread) but you can edit them or add more to fit your needs (e.g. Machine Needles, Ribbon, Bag Hardware).

Within each “Notion Type” you set:

Notion Type – The name of the Notion Type (e.g. Buttons)
Size Units – The units of measurement that represent the size (e.g. mm)
Quantity Units – The units that represent the amount or number of the given Notion Type (e.g. pcs)
Sub Types – Further categorisation of the Notion Type (e.g. 2-hole, 4-hole, Shank)

To add a Notion, select the relevant Notion Type then click on the menu button in the bottom right and select “Add New”. From here it is the same as any other record type (which you can find more about here).

Bulk Edit

Bulk editing allows you to edit multiple records at once. This can be handy when you’ve created a new Tag and want to apply it to multiple records or when filling in missing information. Bulk edit works for the Fabric, Pattern, Notion and Project record types and requires a Stash Hub Plus subscription.

Selecting multiple records

To be able to select multiple records you need to enable multi-select mode. This can be done by either pressing and holding on a record card or clicking the + button and selecting “Bulk Edit”. This will then allow you to select each record you want to edit.

There’s a “Select all visible” button which will select all records currently shown in the list. This can be handy after applying filters to narrow down your desired records to edit. You can click on “Clear” to remove all records that are currently selected. To exit multi-select mode, click on the X in the top left.

Once your desired records are selected, click on “Edit records” and this will show you a popup with a list of fields you can edit. Note: not all fields are bulk editable. To edit a field click on it and the field will expand. For fields that can only have one value there will be a s

Adding Inspiration

Inspiration is similar to other record types like Fabrics and Patterns. It has it’s own place in Stash Hub where you can create, edit and delete inspiration records. This inspiration can then be added to Projects in much the same way as other records and if the Project status is “Just an Idea”, then it will be displayed on the overview card.

One of the special features of Inspiration is that if you put in a valid weblink in the Link field it will display a preview of that link, as well as use the preview information on the inspiration card.

Organising Inspiration

The primary method for managing and organising your inspiration is with Tags. These work the same as Tags throughout the rest of the app and you can apply Filters to narrow down your collection of inspiration.

Once you’ve “used” the inspiration or it isn’t relevant anymore, you can mark it as Archived and it will be filtered out by default but still be part of your Stash.
