Magic Input

Magic Input is the fastest way to input information into Stash Hub

Instead of filling out each field individually, you can either copy and paste a shop URL or write/paste all the fabric information into one text box and let the magic do the rest. Magic Input is available to help you create records for Fabrics and Patterns and it works in the same way for both record types.

We developed this feature to speed up the process of adding your stash to the app.

Magic Input from URL

This version of Magic Input means you can take the URL/weblink of a fabric from an online shop and it will generate a new fabric record from that URL (including the image). A URL is a web address to a listing of a particular fabric or pattern being sold online. Magic Input from URL is ideal for adding new purchases when you're shopping online.

When adding fabrics via Magic Input you can enter an optional “Purchased Length” at the time of submission. There will be a loading time of around 5-10 seconds whilst magic input performs the process of turning a URL into a record.

efore your record is created, you'll have the opportunity to select which images you would like to include. Tap to select or deselect an image - selected images will be indicated by a teal border and a tick mark at the top right of the image thumbnail. For Patterns, there are three image categories: Photos, Line Drawings and Charts. Press and hold on an image then drag and drop it into the appropriate category. Stash Hub Plus subscribers can add up to 8 images to each category, free users can add one image per category.

Magic Input from Text

If you don’t have the URL of the fabric, you can instead use simple prose to describe it. Below are some examples of what you could write but in reality it can work with just a simple sentence.

How does it work?

Magic Input uses AI to extract the key pieces of information from the text. Currently Magic Input uses ChatGPT and all data is kept private and is not used to train future AI models.

Reporting Magic Input Errors

We are working hard to keep improving Magic Input. Some websites may not be compatible with Magic Input or there may be issues such as images not imported or missing or incorrect information. When this happens, tap the three dots menu in the top left of the record and select ‘Report’. This will take you to a feedback form where you can report mistakes made by Magic Input. Taking a minute to submit this form will help us make Magic Input even better in the future!
